#ATL Attraction: Legoland Discovery

We had a full house and blazing temperatures this week. We wanted to do something special, preferably something the three of us "locals" had not done before. So we planned our visit to Legoland Discovery Center, located inside Phipps Plaza.

If you want to visit Legoland, I highly recommend online tickets. If you pay at the door, you will pay more. The website has a few different money-saving options. Even family food deals, which can feed four for under $20. All of these must be paid in advance online. We chose the after 4:00 tickets, which were $13.50 per person.

The Legoland adventure begins with a brief explanation of how Lego bricks are made, followed by the Kingdom Quest ride, where you shoot your way through the kingdom to save the princess and baby dragon. (I thought I was doing great, only to find out every child in our group, with the exception of 4-year old Amelia, scored much, much higher. Sigh.)

In the main part of Legoland, you can see a gorgeous, lighted mini Atlanta, enjoy a flying Merlin ride, see not one but THREE 4-D movies, and build, build, build. There is even a tall soft playground for the kids to scramble up and over.

We enjoyed our visit. Definitely allow three hours or more - our group could have played all night! We noticed a few employees who seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves than exuding Atlanta hospitality, but otherwise we felt welcome and enjoyed our evening of Lego fun.

Note: My ticket to Legoland was complimentary, however all opinions are 100% mine.
